Donna Isabella
Donna Maria Suites, Palazzo Marigliano
Donna Isabella Marigliano del Monte, Donna Maria’s eldest sister, was born in Paris in 1891 and unfortuntaley became an orphan at 12 years old. She was married to Gioacchino Caracciolo di Torella and was also the lady in waiting for the Duchess of Aosta, living with her for a long period of time at the Palace of Capodimonte. She was a tireless organizer of the Red Cross and Unitalsi (set an organization that deals with the pilgrimages of the sick to Lourdes). She was a guest in Palazzo Marigliano during the bombing of 1943, when 3 bombs hit both the dining room table (all laid for a festive dinner for the birthday of her brother Francesco), and the ceiling of the ballroom with the fresco made by De Mura and the “Chinese room” which overlooked the garden.
